Libertarian Party of Maryland

Statue of Liberty Thank you for visiting the Libertarian Party of Maryland's website!  Are you familiar with libertarian ideas?  Read all about them here, or to see an animated introduction, click here. Please contact for information about the Libertarian Party of Maryland.

Libertarians believe that both individual liberty and personal responsibility are required in a civil society, and that government welfare of all types (social, individual, corporate, and political) rewards irresponsibility.  We oppose the Drug War and support the Second Amendment.  Please view the State Program of the Libertarian Party of Maryland, which explains how we can start restoring our liberties in the "Free State", and the National Libertarian Party Platform, which details how "we seek a world of liberty; a world in which all individuals are sovereign over their own lives, and no one is forced to sacrifice his or her values for the benefit of others."  Join the Libertarian Party of Maryland and help in our efforts to allow peaceful & honest people to live their lives in freedom!

Welcome, 38.107.179.220 (38.107.179.220)!
Quote of the Day

The convoluted wording of legalisms grew up around the necessity to hide from ourselves the violence we intend toward each other. Between depriving a man of one hour from his life and depriving him of his life there exists only a difference of degree. You have done violence to him, consumed his energy. Elaborate euphemisms may conceal your intent to kill, but behind any use of power over another the ultimate assumption remains: "I feed on your energy."

Activism Tip of the Day

If you missed our August 13 picnic, you might be drier! Blame the rain on Big Government if you wish (LOL), but we know that politicians don't really control everything (at least not yet). Attendees enjoyed themselves anyway. Photos here.

June 21, 2011: The judge agrees with us and files a summary judgement in our favor in Libertarian Party of Maryland and Maryland Green Party v. Maryland State Board of Elections. Listen as Bob Johnston is interviewed about this on WBAL radio.

We currently have 9,753 registered Libertarians in the state. Article on police interfering with a paid petitioner here.

Confused about the financial crisis, etc.? Video on The Resurgence of Big Government.
